Novelist Joseph Geha reads an excerpt from Kitchen Arabic, a book that is a work-in-progress. The pre-recorded reading was part of a “Toledo Night” that celebrated the city’s historic Arab-American community at the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn, Mich., on Dec. 11, 2015.
The event was co-hosted by The Blade and the museum, and featured a showing of The Blade documentary The Last of Little Syria, as well as art by Toledo artist Reem Helal and former Toledoan Nora Alfaham. Food was provided by Al Habib Market, Muna Market, Sidon Lebanese Grille & Bakery, and So Sweet Lebanese & French Pastries.
Mr. Geha, a former Toledoan, is the author of a novel called Lebanese Blonde, set mainly in Toledo’s historic Little Syria neighborhood, as well as a collection of short stories titled Through and Through: Toledo Stories.
